Very Good – Reputed to be the first recorded book on the History of Glasgow, first published in 1736, this1830 edition is a three quarter leather binding with 5 raised bands and blind decoration on the spine. The boards are covered marbled paper that is replicated on the end pages, title author and date are gilt embossed on the spine and the head of the text block also has gilt decoration. Frontis of the author is present as are the three plates, there are a few additional illustrations. there is some wear to the extremities, a small section of the rear boards marbled paper is missing, some foxing and tanning to the preliminary and the last few pages, spasmodic foxing is present on a few pages within the volume, particularly the plates, the rest of the contents are clean, bright and tight. The volume has been paginated and all pages are present and correct.
